Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. The staff members at Warren Middle School are very excited for this school year, and we welcome your input and involvement with the school throughout the year. I am looking forward to getting to know your family and hope that you will take a moment to say hello and introduce yourself when you are here.
Our first couple of days of school are special to us and help set the tone for the year. During this time we focus on four main goals. They are:
Create a climate of warmth, inclusion, and safety Teach classroom routines and behavior expectations Help students get to know Warren staff and students and how to care for the classroom and school environment Establish expectations for academic work
On Monday morning, August 14th, we will welcome our sixth graders and new students to the Warren family at 7:45. Make sure to grab some breakfast before you come and students will be dismissed at eleven. Please do not bring your supplies until Tuesday, you won’t need anything. Returning seventh and eighth graders, enjoy your last morning of sleeping in and summer fun.
Then on Monday evening we ask that all Warren families join us for our Back To School Night from 6:15-7:15. Class schedules will be available for you to know your child’s schedule. Warren ambassadors and our staff will be available to help you find your way around.
Then I will look forward to seeing everyone bright and early Tuesday morning for the first day of school. Breakfast will be served starting at 7:25 am and our day will begin at 7:50am. Dismissal will begin at 3:00 pm.
One of the major questions asked in middle schools during August is “How can I get my schedule changed?” There will be a Google Form that is available for students to complete. Then office staff will begin calling students in to discuss the requested changes beginning August 21st. Please be patient as we work through the requests and we will do our best to accommodate where we can. Please note, students who just request a teacher change will more than likely stay in the originally assigned class. However there are always exceptions, so if you feel strongly that your child needs to be with a different teacher, please set up a conference with me so we can discuss this together. I hope you always feel free to call, email, or stop by if we can help in any way throughout the year. I’m looking forward to a great year together.
